The recreation ministry of Roebuck Baptist Church seeks to glorify God by engaging people in healthy, fun activities and exercise. Through participation in structured and unstructured games, sports, and fun, church members and others maintain more balanced lives and grow deeper relationships with one another. Each year, adult and youth teams participate in community basketball leagues, and teams also often participate in other sports like volleyball, soccer, and baseball. The church coordinates and host an upward Basketball league each winter for children and young teens, also giving adults and family members opportunities to volunteer as coaches, score-keepers, and referees. Weekday evenings, the church gym is open for games of pickle ball or basketball, as well as exercise and fitness training. The recreation ministry sponsors two golf tournaments a year (spring and fall) and occasional tournaments of wiffleball, pickle ball, ping pong, and other games. Believing that Christ should be glorified in every aspect of a person’s life, the Roebuck Baptist Church recreation ministry promotes leisure activities that are fun, encourage good sportsmanship, and help individuals and families improve their physical and spiritual health.
